Organisations train their personnel to enable them perform their roles effectively and efficiently. The main objective of such training programs is to develop skills and knowledge of individuals, in order to perform their roles. To meet this responsibility of training individuals in organisations, a number of modes are followed. One such mode is the 'flexible' option. In this option, individuals learn at their own pace and speed.

To be successful, organisations should have a proper training plan. This plan is essential to achieve long term effectiveness. However, as the modern 'flexible' learning is dependent on information technology (IT), key software processes within the organisation should be identified and organised as an integral component of the training plan or programs. If this is not done, then there is a potential that the training objectives will not be met fully.

This paper discusses salient elements of such a training plan for a software organisation. The paper discusses strategies and provides guidelines to realise an organisation training plan to facilitate 'flexible' learning.
